Virtual tour of “Presence among Absent” exhibitionCategory : ProjectsDate : 21 June 2013
“How to show something that is absent, how to express the inexpressible?”. This thematic problem was asked by participants of the photographic workshop organized in the region of the Low Beskids. This area of Southern Poland was in the past particularly affected by painful history related to the two world wars and also post-war resettlements. The classes were led by Bogdan Konopka, a photographer, who in his work has been focused for many years on the “unclassified heritage” motif. It applies to places and events that are constantly present in our lives, yet unobtrusive, almost invisible to the eye, and at the same time confirming “the mortality of the reality”. The time takes a special place in this concept as it reveals the truth. Photography from this point of view is not a mechanical copy of the perceived world, but rather its feeling in the historical perspective(1).
The exhibition was related to the mentioned workshops and the following authors were presenting their photographs:
Anita Andrzejewska, Maciej Herman, Bogdan Konopka, Piotr Koralewski, Anna Kucowska, Jerzy Madej, Wojciech Mazur, Izabela Nowak, Mateusz Palka, Agnieszka Potocka, Jarek Solarczyk and Krzysztof Ligęza.
